Saltaire Brewery highly commended at the Yorkshire Life Food and Wine Awards

At a black-tie gala dinner and glittering ceremony in the Oulton Hall Hotel, Rothwell near Leeds on Monday 1st October, Saltaire Brewery was awarded a commendation in the Local Food Award category of the Yorkshire Life Food and Drink Awards. An independent panel of judges carried out the selection process for the highly sought-after awards which reflected the brewery’s commitment to producing and selling Yorkshire produce.

Managing Director, Paul Simpson explained “We are very proud of our Yorkshire roots and where possible will always use local produce. Our malts arrive from Thomas Fawcetts who are based in Castleford. The spent grain is collected by a local farmer and used as cattle feed whilst we also donate some of our hops to local gardeners for them to use as fertilizer. As we state on our bottles, we use Yorkshire tap water in all our brewing processes. The local market is extremely important to us, hence our support of a wide variety of local initiatives and schemes”.

Paul added “This commendation completes a fantastic two months for Saltaire Brewery. The last bi-month saw our highest sales to date by some considerable distance with our Saltaire Blonde beer continuing to break all records.”
