Amarillo Gold Across the UK
Traditionally, the January to March period can be a quiet time for brewers, as customers try to work off the effects of their over-indulgence over Christmas. However, quite the opposite has been the case at Saltaire Brewery.
Whilst still only in their second year of existence, Saltaire Brewery’s Amarillo Gold was chosen as one of 50 beers to be promoted in the Wetherspoon’s International Real Ale Festival (in pubs from 27th March to 14th April). The beer is a new recipe and is a 4.4% clear wheat beer made using 100% Amarillo Hops. In order to supply the Wetherspoons chain, Saltaire Brewery produced and delivered 500 casks in one week!
On top of this, at the same time, Amarillo Gold was also being promoted nationally in Punch Taverns pubs as part of their Finest Cask promotion.
Head Brewer, Tony Gartland explained “As a result of these two promotions, with our 20 beer barrel plant, we were brewing Amarillo Gold between 2 and 3 times a week for over 2 months. The brewery has been at maximum capacity for the first quarter of this year.”
Paul Simpson, Managing Director added “Whilst our local independent customers are of vital importance to us, the national exposure which we receive from these promotions helps to enhance our growing reputation with beer drinkers across the UK. The feedback from pubs and customers has been fantastic”.
